A Final Project.

Portfolio

Final portfolios are opportunities for students be creative as they reflect on, describe, analyze, and interpret their own work and learning from this year. In addition this project should give students the opportunity to create a well rounded portfolio outlining their interests and skills outside the art room. This is an opportunity for students to articulate their learning and their realities in their own words as they create a product of personal and emotional value.
Your portfolio will consist of 4 parts WITH A FOCUS ON THE ART PORTION. Each part will have an essential question that you will answer with ….

A title page
A resume
Extracurriculars and hobbies
5 artworks, that answer the Essential Questions bellow
- A artwork example
  - Artwork must be yours
  - Must be high resolution and not warped
  - Must answer the essential question
- A short, but insightful written description of how that artwork fits/ answers the Essential question
  - States what the project was, and how they accomplished it
  - Gives a little review on how they did
  - Must have at least 2 specific references how the artwork answers the essential question.

Please note that you will also be graded on the overall aesthetic of the portfolio, ie placement, color, font etc.

The Essential Questions to Answer with artwork

Which artwork demonstrates a successful use of the Art Elements and Principles of Design?
1. The elements of art are color, form, line, shape, space, and texture. The principles of design are scale, proportion, unity, variety, rhythm, mass, shape, space, balance, volume, perspective, and depth
Which artwork do you feel demonstrates the most creativity?
Which artwork do you feel demonstrates the most technical skill?
Which artwork do you, did you feel was the most challenging? Are you proud that you persisted?
Your Final Porject: How does your final artwork show improvement?

Self Portriats through History

The selfie is a smartphone-produced version of the self-portrait, which has been a staple of art and photography history since artists first began seeing examining their own images in the mirror. A self-portrait is a representation of an artist that is drawn, painted, photographed, or sculpted by that artist. Although self-portraits have been made since the earliest times, it is not until the Early Renaissance in the mid-15th century that artists can be frequently identified depicting themselves as either the main subject, or as important characters in their work.

A good self portrait does a little more than just capture the likeness of the artist but something a little deeper. Sometimes artist have used self portraits to tell secrets, express views and morals, or just their overall temperament. Art is not always about a pretty picture but rather a important message. what do the self portraits below reveal about their artists?

Final Project

Overview

The final project of the semester is meant to really showcase students' improvement in skills and creativity. Throughout the year we have built not only your skill, but also your artistic vision. Projects increased in difficulty as the year wore on and built upon each other. This Finial project in essence is meant to help reflect and create an artwork that demonstrates your growth.

The assignment
The overall idea is for you to showcase what you’ve learned and how you have improved through artistic vision, creativity and technical skill. You will have at least 3 weeks of in class time to complete this project. Using one of our past projects Create an Insightful Self portrait. A good self portrait reveals something about the artist, so what do you want to share? Your hobbies, passions, dreams, or even your emotions/ feeling of something.

In essence the final is really a project you have done before, but are now tasked with doing again better. For this final project a lot will remain the same for you, the programs, class time, etc. What will be different is the fact that I am not going to provide any specific tutorial, (please note that all old tutorials are available on mrsras.com and google classroom

Your portrait must display the following this
- Come from at least one original photo.
- must show at least 3 quarters of your face or you
- must give the viewer some insight about you, other than how you look (you may think about adding more pictures or something in the background to help convey your message about yourself)
- your portrait gives an overall feeling through the use of color
- show a mastery of your chosen media
- Shows 3 weeks worth of work!
