Create a SECURE personal website that doubles as a portfolio for your projects and serves as a resume or platform to highlight any special skills. This website can be useful as a supplementary application material for college. Why Should I have a personal website? Having a personal website is useful in application to college especially if you are looking to apply to specialty school where you might need to show off some skills. Art, architecture or even athleticism. By taking this opportunity to showcase your project for this class on such a website you can take this time to develop and curate it to your needs at the same time! Check out these sources below and see why a personal website is useful! https://blog.theprofessionalwebsite.com/2013/05/15/a-personal-website-for-graduating-seniors/ http://inlikeme.com/creating-a-blog-or-website-to-showcase-your-athletic-prowess-passion-talent-or-interest/ How can I build a secure website With me we can use student weebly and create a password protected site. Student Weebly, (https://education.weebly.com/ed-features.php) is a free and secure online web building site where students will create ePortfolios which allow them to organize, display, and share content. For our class the content would be the the project artwork. This private learning environment is student-friendly, does not require an email, and is monitored and controlled by the teacher. The website is protected by a password. Weebly provides a safe and easy way to support learning beyond the classroom, and help students develop important online skills. This website can also double as a personal website that students can cultivate a online resume that can be shared with colleges. The ePortfolios will be developed by the students privately, then with your signed approval (see below), it will be made available for viewing by students via a password. https://education.weebly.com/ed-features.php Check out my sample student website http://rasartz.weebly.com/ the password is welcome If you are interested I need you to get this form signed by your parent or guardian to verify they are aware that you are creating a website and give their consent. IMPORTANT!!
I do not and will not advise that you put to personal information and contact info on your sites. choosing to do a google slide show is perfectly fine too and will not effect your grade at all. This website is just an option! |
